Course description: This session is a two hours course using narrated PowerPoint slides. The course introduces participants to the concepts of Risk Management including inspection scope and limitations, criteria for inspecting components, and inspection reporting requirements. This class is applicable to anyone desiring to learn more about managing inspection risk and debunks several common myths.
Participant Profile: This course is primarily intended for home inspectors who wish to learn how to manage risk with advice from experienced risk managers. Other participants could include attorneys desiring more knowledge about home inspections and associated risks.

Speaker Biographies:
Robert W. Pearson: Bob's previous experience as a home inspector gives him a unique perspective in dealing with
home inspector insurance. Bob started his first inspection business in 1985 and since 1992 has
been the manager of the Allen Insurance Group's program along with maintaining a home inspection
business. He retired as an active inspector in 2000. He has written many articles on claims
management and report writing. He is considered to be the foremost expert on home inspector insurance.
Joe Denneler: Joe is a member of the Firm’s Professional Liability & Malpractice Defense Group. Joe defends home inspectors, real estate appraisers, real estate brokers and agents, lawyers, accountants and insurance brokers and agents in litigation matters. Joe is also a member of the Firm’s Commercial Transportation Litigation Group defending commercial fleet operators and drivers of tractor trailer combinations, busses, taxis and limousines. In addition, Joe has extensive experience in insurance coverage disputes and casualty fire claims. Joe is an experienced trial attorney who has successfully defended several cases to verdict. Joe has also argued many appeals in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Over the last ten years Joe has developed a niche defending home inspectors against professional liability claims in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Joe has been asked to defend home inspectors in State and Federal Courts, as well as in contracted-for Mediations and Arbitrations. As a result of his extensive experience representing home inspectors Joe is frequently requested to speak nationwide to inspectors on issues ranging from inspection report writing, drafting inspection contracts and preventing liability claims. Joe is often asked by insurance carriers to consult on claims against home inspectors all over the United States. Joe is the counsel of choice to defend home inspectors by many of the largest insurers of these professionals, and his proven track record and commitment to success gives him a distinct competitive advantage. In addition to litigating home inspection claims Joe is General Counsel to the New Jersey Association of Licensed Professional Home Inspectors (NJ-ALPHI) where he routinely provides lectures and continuing education seminars to New Jersey home inspectors.
Ben Garrison: Vice President of Sales for FREA
For the past 6 years, Ben has served as FREA’s Vice President of Sales where his primary job is to build FREA’s membership by providing one of the most comprehensive insurance programs in the industry along with other membership benefits. His knowledge of insurance is extensive and he also consults with inspectors to help with their overall risk management practices. One of the biggest advantages of FREA’s insurance program is their excellent claims management program which Garrison as well as Joseph Denneler are an integral part of. Prior to joining FREA, Garrison worked as a Marketing Representative for Willis of Delaware (formerly the Zutz Insurance Group, Wilmington, Delaware) which manages FREA’s insurance program. Ben graduated from Lynchburg College in Virginia in 2000 with a B.A in Political Science
